In late 2010, I called an old family friend who my Dad said had been incarcerated in a Japanese Internment Camp during WWII. I had never learned about that part of history in school and was curious to understand more. Emmy Koyama opened her home to me, and over the next three years, several generous people opened up their homes to share with me their stories. Stories of a complex and misrepresented part of America history.
